This recipe makes a more crunchy and distinctive tasting sugar cookie. They are also more of a challenge to roll out!
Ingredients –
– 1/2 c. butter or margarine
– 1 c. sugar
– 2 eggs
– 1.2 tsp. vanilla
– 2 1/2 cups flour
Cream together butter or margarine and sugar until fluffy. Add unbeaten eggs one at a time, beating after each one. Add vanilla and blend. Add flour and blend well. Make into 4 or 5 balls and chill overnight in refrigerator. Roll out think on heavily floured board, cut into shapes and decorate. Bake at 350 F for 8 to 10 minutes. Bake on ungreased cookie sheets. TO DECORATE BEFORE BAKING: Beat egg white, glaze cookie with egg, then sprinkle with mixture of sugar, cinnamon and ground nuts. FOR DECORATIONG BAKED COOKIES: Make glaze with powdered sugar, vanilla and milk May be colored with food coloring.
