These are great crowd pleasers. What makes them special is the sliver of cherry on the top “winking” at you. My nephew Patrick knew how much I liked the cherries, even when he was 1 year old. He pulled all the “winks” off the cookies and fed them to me!
Ingredients –
Sift together:
– 2-1/4 c. flour
– 1 t. baking powder
– 1/2 t. baking soda
– 1/2 t. salt
Cream together in large bowl:
– 3/4 c. butter
– 1 c. sugar
Add to the butter/sugar mixture and beat:
– 2 eggs, beaten
– 2 T. milk
– 1 t. vanilla
Blend dry ingredients in gradually.
Add:
– 1 c. peacons, chopped
– 1 c. chopped dates.
– 1/3 c. maraschino cherries, drained and chopped.
Drop by the teaspoon into 2-1/2 c. crushed corn flakes. Toss, form into balls. Place on greased baking sheet and top teach with 1/4 of a maraschino cherry.
Bake 12-15 minutes at 375 F.
