This is a good substitute and easier to make than cabbage rolls. Mom got this recipe from Homemakers.
Ingredients –
– 1lb. ground beef
– 4 c. cabbage, shredded
– 1c. bread crumbs
– 2 1/2 c. tomatoes (1-#2 can)
– 1 c. chopped celery
– 1/4 c.onion
– 2 t. salt
– pepper to taste
Brown meat. Add Celery and onions. Simmer 5 minutes. Add tomatoes, salt and pepper and bring to boil. Make alternate layers of cabbage and meat in casserole or pan. Top with bread crumbs. Bake 375 F for 45 minutes. 242 calories per serving/6 servings.
