Beef, Cabbage and Tomato Casserole

This is a good substitute and easier to make than cabbage rolls. Mom got this recipe from Homemakers.

Ingredients –

– 1lb. ground beef
– 4 c. cabbage, shredded
– 1c. bread crumbs
– 2 1/2 c. tomatoes (1-#2 can)
– 1 c. chopped celery
– 1/4 c.onion
– 2 t. salt
– pepper to taste

Brown meat. Add Celery and onions.  Simmer minutes. Add tomatoes, salt  and pepper and bring to boil. Make alternate layers of cabbage and meat in casserole or pan.  Top with bread crumbs. Bake 375 F for 45 minutes. 242 calories per serving/6 servings.
