Ingredients –
– 2 lbs ground turkey (or extra lean beef 93% fat free)
– 1 large onion
– 3 cloves garlic, crushed
– 1 can beef broth
– 2 cans stewed tomatoes
– 1 small can tomato paste
– 4 tsp chili powder
– 1 1/2 tsp oregano
– 4 tsp cumin
– 2 cans kidney beans, drained and rinsed
– 1/2 cup red wine
– 1/2 tsp black pepper
Sauté onion until translucent. Remove from pan. Brown turkey. Remove fat ands extra liquid from pan. Add garlic and onion and cook 2-3 minutes more. Add rest of ingredients except kidney beans. Simmer at least an hour. About 1 to 1 1/2 hours before serving, add beans.
